Ramage gets Island call

La Moye Golf Club stages the biennial fixture with Jersey looking to keep their run of victories going following a 10½-9½ away success two years ago.

Royal Jersey’s Annette Ramage is the only new cap in squad of 11, who will play foursomes matches and four-balls on Saturday 15 September followed by singles matches the following morning.

Jersey Ladies Golf Association president Virginia Austin-Walker, a member of the squad, said: ‘It’s an experienced line-up and the strongest that we have available.

‘There is a lot of experience, too, with the majority of the players having played against Guernsey either with their club or for the Island.

‘Unfortunately Flora Keites is unavailable because she is now at university. Flora will be a loss, but if everyone give a good account of themselves then we should be okay.

‘We won the last match in Guernsey. It was close and the matches are getting tighter.

‘Hopefully, we will get a lot of home support over the weekend and I’m also hoping we have good conditions for the match as well.’

The Jersey squad is: Juanita Adlington, Virginia Austin-Walker, Sue Langdon, Sarah Le Boutillier, Abi Nance, Elaine Pushman and Sheila Smith (all La Moye) and Helen Lagadu, Pam Parkman, Annette Ramage and Hannah Scriven (Royal Jersey).

The 15 September foursomes and four balls tee off at 8.30 am and 1.15 pm, respectively, followed by the singles the following Sunday morning from 8 o’clock.
