Golf: European Junior Tour set for Jersey

Sport | Published:

THE Island is set to host a European Junior Golf Tour event for the first time next year.

Les Mielles professional Wayne Osmand is the man behind the new venture, inspired by six-year-old Gabriel Ridgeway's victory at the under-6 Tour finals in Spain.

Osmand, who is head of Jersey golf development, said: 'This news is really exciting for junior golfers in the Island. Jersey is a small place and for our golfers to improve they need competition against better players. This event will give them that opportunity.

Les Mielles will host competitions for the six-to-ten-year-olds from 24 September 2017, with either La Moye or Royal Jersey being considered for the 11-to-17-year-old tournaments.
