Netball: Andrews demands final flourish

Having set out to avoid a drop back into England’s third amateur tier, the 2015/16 campaign can already be marked as a success. But Jets have fourth place in their sights, and a home win against Premier Romans will likely have them leapfrogging Telstars – who face the seemingly unbeatable Tameside on Sunday.

‘We’ve achieved our aim, but we want to come out with a win in front of a home crowd in our last game,’ said Andrews. ‘We want to finish the season as high in the table as possible.’

That open-ended goal comes after the Islanders fell short in their bid to break an England Netball record and climb from the regional leagues up into Premier 1 in just three years, with defeat to Telstars last week ending their hopes of reaching the promotion play-offs.
