A triple world champion in canoe slalom and a London Olympic silver medallist in the kayak, Fox has wasted no time in rewriting the record books in a sport previously dominated by her parents.
The 21-year-old is the daughter of 1996 Olympic medallist Myriam Fox-Jerusalmi and ten-time world champion Richard – nephew to Michael and Veronica Fox, who live in Grouville.
Jessica qualified for her second Olympics last month with a leading performance at the Oceania Championships – an event where her sister, Noemie, claimed canoe bronze – and she is now among the favourites for top spot at Rio 2016.
‘That would be the dream goal, but in our sport it’s so variable with so many different elements to it that it’s not black and white,’ said Fox while discussing her golden chances.
‘In our sport any one of the top ten can win on the day, so that makes it more interesting. It’s about who can adapt and deliver on the day, and to be one of the top ten women going for a medal is pretty exciting.’
