Adverse weather caused all JFC Premiership matches to be called off over the weekend and, with similar problems persisting in the sister isle, the Guernsey FA League Management Committee is being urged to consider making football a summer sport.

Nick Leigh-Morgan, a former youth coach at Guernsey Rangers and St Martin FC, has submitted an eight-page proposal to the Sarnian’s LMC, in which he recommends organisers consider running their season between March and October. He lists 10 advantages of running the sport in the summer and claims the current scheduling doesn’t have a single benefit to it.

In Jersey, Welsh says he is open to discussing the proposals.
