Gaelic and rugby teams to form partnership

The link was formed when Banks player Ben Manser asked Dennis Quilty of Jersey Irish if they’d like to have a cross-codes match and since then the relationship has blossomed.

Quilty explained the benefits of the relationship: ‘We’re trying to get rugby players, from all teams, not just Banks, to explore the sport of Gaelic football. There are similarities between the two games and we’re trying to advertise the sport to the rugby players.

‘Our season starts in March time and finishes in late September, so once the rugby players stop training I’d encourage them to come up to our training. They are welcome to come up and we’ll show them the rules.’
