Greens to shun Les Creux

Two of the losses, however, were by default, one due to the ineligibility of a substitute and the other due to Jersey forfeiting as Guernsey officials allegedly would not make a decision on a replacement after a Jersey bowler was unable to play in a late time slot, having to catch a flight back to the Island.

Bowls Jersey president Jean Holmes said: ‘Things are not good between Jersey and Guernsey at the moment and we will work hard to try and sort things out.

‘A total of 46 Guernsey bowlers have also signed a petition stating they will not play on carpet in the Le Quesne inter-insulars and that, too, is very disappointing.

‘Tournaments and competitions take place everywhere now on carpet, they are being installed to cut the cost of maintaining the greens and it is being accepted by bowlers worldwide.’
