Securing a stunning home victory Mansell roared to success after working well with UK Youth team-mate Richard Tanguy to remain in the lead group throughout the race.

In the elite ladies’ race Harriet Owen (Node4 Giordana), a Youth Commonwealth champion and scratch runner-up at the Junior World Track Championships, won the Jersey title.

After beating Guernsey’s Ann Bowditch into second and Julie Granshaw (WyndyMilla) into third, Owen (18) said: ‘It was really fast from the start so I just stayed near the front and timed my sprint to the line which paid off.’
