The 20-year-old began his assault on Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium in a positive fashion, securing bronze in the men’s shot put thanks to a best effort of 17.95m.
With Duquemin’s best in the event sitting at 18.48m – just over two metres shy of the Olympic A standard – it was the discus and not the shot that he had his eye on in the West Midlands.
However it wasn’t to be as Duquemin finished down in fourth with a throw of 59.46m, more than five metres off the Olympic A standard for the discus of 65m.
After picking up gold yesterday Lawrence Okoye, who has trained in Jersey with Duquemin, alongside coach John Hillier, guaranteed his place in the discus at London 2012 but with two more spots still up for grabs, Duquemin insists he will fight until the very end to gain a place.
