Can Jersey secure another British title?

And, with plenty of experience in the ranks, it would not be a surprise to see another British title coming to the Channel Islands.

Representing Jersey in the singles is the Island’s champion Suzie Dingle, who won the pairs title with Gaynor Thomas in 2006.

Dingle has the task of stopping Scotland winning the blue riband title for the fourth year on the trot – though her Scottish opponent is relatively unknown outside her East Lothian Co-op club, and has yet to catch the eye of her national selectors.

The preliminary rounds and semi finals will be played today, followed by the finals tomorrow – unless the programme has to change because of dual qualification – and the British team title will be up for grabs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Jersey’s representatives in the British individual championships:- Singles: Suzie Dingle. Pairs: Gean O’Neil & Karina Bisson. Triples: Jose Gregory, Jo Le Quesne, Sue Noel. Fours: Diane Canavan, Fay Le Motto, Anne Richardson, Alison Camacho
