Hopes grow that Jersey could host Games
JERSEY could receive external funding to host the Jeux des Iles – a multi-sport European-centred youth games, before 2015.
Inquiries have been made into the logistics of putting on the Games and the potential costs.
Jersey team manager Hugh Raymond has been asked to write a feasibility report for the Jeux des Iles association, COJI, in the next few months.
He told island delegates at this year's event in Sardinia that Jersey would need financial help to be able to host the Games.
'I suggested an increase in fees and for participant islands to fund accommodation and transport costs,' he said.
'I thought it would go down like a lead balloon but I was surprised by the response. Every island was in agreement.'
