Describing it as one of the biggest victories of her career the 24-year-old said that she was ‘chuffed to bits’ with the result in Brymawr, Wales.

It was a classy performance from the Caesarean Cycling Club rider as she beat a field including junior world champion Lucy Garner who is well known in the Island as the ladies’ winner of last year’s Town Criterium.

Ashton, who has returned to the Island following a stint in Belgium, said: ‘I needed that win for a confidence boost. I had a difficult week the week before and it’s nice to get things back on track.’
