Duo still in the hunt

Apart from bidding for places in the semi finals of the men’s and women’s world indoor singles championships, Lowery and Camacho will team up in the semi finals of the mixed pairs event.

And, by this evening, they could even have qualified for tomorrow’s finals in all three events.

Camacho came through her round robin group with flying colours – and a 100 per cent record – beating young Scot Stacey Laidlaw in straight sets, 6-4, 5-4, and will face Welsh star Marian Purcell in today’s quarter finals.

Having dealt a major blow to Betty Morgan’s hopes of retaining the world title, Camacho is hoping to casue more disappointment in Welsh ranks by beating Purcell.
