Lowery double the Jersey highlight

John Lowery took pride of place for the visitors at the Hougue du Pommier centre by winning the men’s singles and fours crowns, the latter with Thomas Greechan, Lee Nixon and Jamie McDonald.

Jersey’s other success came via Malcolm De Sousa, the reigning British champion, in the under-25 final.

Bowls can be a cruel game sometimes and Jersey were on the receiving end as their luck ran out, coupled with good play from the Sarnians, as Island players wasted sizeable leads in three of the finals they lost in.

The newly-crowned CI champions will now represent the region at the British Isles championships in Swansea between 11 and 13 March.
