It was a tremendous, gutsy performamce by the visitors, who made amends for Ealing’s win at St Peter earlier in the season. A penalty try and scores from Dave McCormack and Guy Thompson were enough to give Jersey a hard-earned victory at the former league leaders, with Jersey’s pack in particular being outstanding in the last 20 minutes.
Jersey recovered from the double blow of losing backs Micheal Le Bourgeois and Dai Bishop to injury in the first half.
Even though Ealing and Jersey were the top two before this match, Rosslyn Park’s bonus point victory over Cambridge denies Jersey the top spot in National One. It is now a case of another top two clash next week, when Jersey host Rosslyn Park – a game that is sure to attract a massive crowd at St Peter.
