THERE was a time, I was once told by an old Jerseyman who happened also to be an Anglican minister as well as being as staunch an upholder of this Island’s correct constitutional relationship with the English Crown, when officials at the Home Office – then the link between the Crown and its dependencies – absolutely dreaded visiting these islands because of the opposition they’d receive whenever even the most minor of changes was being proposed.

Moving in the right direction

ALTHOUGH it is often pointed out – with good reason – that Jersey is a low-crime community, the fear of crime and disorder is still prevalent. It is therefore encouraging to learn that the prevalence of one particular and important category of crime is decreasing sharply.
