YEARS ago I was surprised, and not to say more than a little delighted, to receive a bottle of top-notch calvados from the agency in the United Kingdom which promoted the stuff and, unlike an old mate of mine who polished off a bottle of single malt given to him as a birthday gift at the same rate of knots as he used the whisky you buy from supermarkets as some sort of mouthwash, I can tell the difference.
