CHRISTINE Rowland has been nominated for Fundraiser/Volunteer of the Year for her 13 years of service as the Chair of Blood Cancer UK, Jersey branch and more than 20 years in total as part of the charity committee.
Her nominator Charley Clarke praised Ms Rowland for launching the Jersey Kid’s Triathlon in 2013, where it has gone from “strength to strength”. This year the event welcomed over 800 children.
In the last 10 years alone, Ms Rowland helped to raise over £400,000 for research into cures and treatments of blood cancers. Ms Rowland is commended for always leading the committee with “determination, humility and grace,” where she remains a “mentor” figure, helping other new members to grow and raise awareness and funds.
“Through her vision and tireless dedication, the Jersey branch of Blood Cancer UK has become a thriving community, organised countless fundraising events and inspired so many people to play their part in helping to beat blood cancer,” said Ms Clarke.
