TWO-TIME cancer survivor and primary school teacher Chris Fancourt has been nominated for Volunteer/Fundraiser of the Year after raising £5,000 for Macmillan Jersey.
His parents, Josette and Peter Fancourt, nominated him for his “amazing achievement” in raising funds and awareness for the charity, which provides support and wellbeing services to people affected by cancer in Jersey.
Mr Fancourt took on the A Million Steps for Macmillan for March challenge after being diagnosed with cancer for a third time.
The challenge involved walking approximately 13 miles every day, despite having undergone “gruelling treatments, operations and analysis”.
His nominators said Mr Fancourt had previously raised thousands of pounds for Teenage Cancer Trust.
“Chris is a truly determined son who makes us so proud,” they said.
The nomination recognises Mr Fancourt’s continued efforts to support cancer charities while facing his own health challenges.
