David Hewitt, who works at the Gorey Village post office and Morrisons, has been nominated for the Customer Service of the Year award his readiness to help, no matter the query.
Margaret Breen, a frequent customer at the post office and the Morrisons, said: “He’s always ready to go the extra mile to assist with filling in the various forms now required to send a parcel and nothing is ever too much trouble for him.”
He is a friendly face who chats to anyone who comes in, engaging with the community he serves on a human level, she added.
“You might go into Gorey post office feeling down,” Mrs Breen said, “but you come away feeling brighter because you have spoken to David. He just goes the extra mile
“A village post office is the heart of the community where people come together for a quick chat over buying a few stamps or their daily paper and David is at the heart of the post office.”
