A JERSEY Heritage curator has been recognised for his dedication to “remembering the bravery and fortitude of Islanders who suffered in the Occupation”.
Chris Addy, the organisation’s Second World War fortifications curator, was nominated by Martha Bernstein, who praised his work to ensure that future generations “will never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today”.
As part of his role, Mr Addy leads the organisation of Holocaust Memorial Day, a British national act of remembrance. He also recently took responsibility for this year’s annual Slave Workers Memorial ceremony at Westmount.
Mr Addy has led Jersey’s participation in two Europe-wide commemorative projects: Liberation Route Europe and the Stolpersteine memorial stones.
Ms Bernstein said his dedication to remembering those who made sacrifices was “genuine, compassionate and heartfelt”, describing him as an ambassador for Jersey’s rich history and Islanders who have died.
