A LOCAL mum who set up the Christmas Kindness Appeal has been nominated for the Community Champion award for bringing to life “a community initiative that has helped as many children as possible to wake up on Christmas morning with gifts to open and memories to treasure”.
Her nominator, Laura Du Feu said “Charlotte brings warmth, positivity, a laugh and the heart and soul that make people feel valued and supported”.
Miss Du Feu praised Mrs Riley’s network of generosity that continues to grow each year. After supporting 174 local families in the first year in 2024, last year Mrs Riley helped support 224 local children.
What began in Mrs Riley’s own lounge as a heartfelt idea has grown into team of volunteers, spreadsheets, storage space, lorries, vans and drivers to collect, sort, match and distribute everything, said her nominator.
“Her dedication has made a lasting difference to so many families across Jersey, and her impact will continue for years to come”, Miss Du Feu said. “She simply wants every child to experience the magic of Christmas, regardless of their family’s circumstances.”
