VOLUNTEERS at Citizens Advice Jersey are being recognised in the Volunteer/Fundraiser Category for being “the heart of the organisation”.
They have been nominated by the organisation’s staff, who praised the volunteers’ contribution, adding that in 2025, Citizens Advice Jersey received 20,589 enquiries and supported 8,070 clients.
“Behind those numbers are real people, real worries and real lives, and our volunteers play an enormous part in making sure those people receive the support they need. They do it because they care about their community and about people,” staff said.
They added that the volunteers’ impact is “often quiet”. The team conduct hundreds of conversations and calls, fill out forms, make cups of tea, and offer reassuring words and advice which make a “genuinely life-changing difference to Islanders”.
The volunteers “meet Islanders with patience, kindness and, most importantly, without judgment,” helping anyone who might come through the doors worried about debt, housing, employment, benefits or family problems, their nominators said.
