A TEACHING assistant at St Luke’s Primary School has been nominated for Teacher of the Year in recognition of her “26 years of unwavering commitment where she has made a lasting difference to countless children and families”.
Terrie Wilton, is described as an “integral part of school life” by nominator Natalie Brophy, for going above and beyond as an “exceptional” teaching assistant helping to support children with additional needs in the classroom.
Mrs Wilton is also the school’s dedicated first-aid lead, as well as looking after all the children attending the after-school club, where she “creates a safe, happy and nurturing environment”.
Ms Brophy praised her for being “truly life-changing” by helping their daughter through a very difficult period of school, with “remarkable patience, kindness and understanding”.
“She always seemed to know exactly what to say, finding the perfect balance between encouraging her to be brave while making her feel supported and secure,” Ms Brophy said. “She has genuinely made life so much easier for my daughter and, as a result, for our whole family.”
