Nominated by: Sinead Donnelly
SHARON Donnelly has been nominated for Grandparent of the Year for her perseverance in always putting her grandchildren first, even when she is in pain.
Sinead Donnelly, her daughter and nominator, said “she does it all”.
Four years ago, Miss Donnelly became very unwell and has faced difficulties since. But, her daughter said, “it doesn’t affect her relationship” with her grandson, Conan, who is three. She said: “She has shown immense strength for the past couple of years despite being in almost daily pain.”
Miss Donnelly spends time with her grandchildren, making the garden a fun and safe place to play, grows sunflowers with them and takes them to the park.
Her nominator added: “She really does everything she can for us and no one quite makes Conan belly laugh the way she does.
“With Conan, as long as they’re both laughing together and causing mischief together, she’s happy.”
