A TEAM who are “incredibly passionate” about what they do have been nominated for the Environmentalist of the Year award.
Nominator Layla Sahai described SCOOP as “so much more than a shop” by creating a profit-for-purpose organisation that focuses on accessible sustainability.
Miss Sahai said: “Everything they do is about making it easier for people in Jersey to make better choices for the environment, while still enjoying great food and supporting local businesses.
“They are constantly thinking about how they can reduce waste and make the most of what they have. They also put a huge emphasis on supporting local suppliers and producers, encouraging a more local and sustainable food system.
“They also go far beyond simply selling sustainable products. SCOOP actively involves the wider community through things like open-farm days and cooking classes, giving people the opportunity to learn, get involved and see for themselves how they can live a little more sustainably.
“They are showing that being more sustainable doesn’t have to be difficult or restrictive.
“It can be about good food, supporting local people, learning new things and being part of a community.”
