A SCOUT leader who has inspired adults to volunteer and helped young Islanders embrace the values of scouting has been nominated for Volunteer/Fundraiser of the Year.
Elisabeth Blampied has been described as the “driving force” behind the establishment of the 23rd Jersey Scout Group in 2015.
Her nominator Matthew Berry, chair of the group’s trustee board, said that Mrs Blampied had “inspired many adults to contribute their time” in her role as group lead volunteer.
She has also taught young people the values of scouting while running activities that have “challenged” them, he added.
Mr Berry said: “The dedication and drive required from Elisabeth to run the group and motivate volunteers is very significant, and is something that she does alongside a busy full-time job and being a parent to two children.
“While the Scouts Association has recognised the work Elisabeth does, I think she also deserves this award as recognition for the significant contribution she has made to the community the 23rd Jersey serves.”
