Nominated by: Niamh Ohalloran

A YEAR 1 teacher at d’Auvergne Primary School has been nominated for Teacher of the Year for always demonstrating to children that “learning can be fun”.

Aaron Worthington’s nominator Niamh O’halloran said that he also ensured that his pupils all felt cared for and were treated equally.

Mrs O’halloran added that Mr Worthington breaks down gender stereotypes from an early age, encouraging all his students to be themselves.

“The children who once found it tricky every morning entering the classroom now come in with a glimmer of excitement and cry when it is finally time to leave,” she said.

She added that Mr Worthington goes the extra mile for his students by “always having the best World Book Day costumes”, dressing up as a pirate while taking the class to the Maritime Museum and had led “amazing trips to the Zoo”.
