NIKKI Clarke, of St Michael’s School, has been nominated for Teacher of the Year for the impact she’s had on a child’s life.
Grace had recently been diagnosed with dyslexia when she began Year 3 and was struggling with her learning and confidence
But thanks to Mrs Clarke’s support and attention, Grace has made significant improvement in her reading and maths.
Mrs Clarke gave up her holidays, visiting Grace on weekdays to keep her learning.
Her nominators, Grace’s parents Chris and Joanna, said: “Mrs Clarke has transformed Grace’s confidence. She now believes in herself, approaches learning with enthusiasm, loves school, and takes pride in her achievements.”
Grace’s progress shows how limits can be shattered with the right teacher on hand, they added.
