William and Kate to attend mental health summit

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are due to attend the first Global Ministerial Mental Health Summit – an initiative to help improve mental health around the world.

Political figures, experts and policy makers are due at the event in London to discuss issues such as how to deal with the stigma attached to mental health.

Another policy up for discussion is a declaration committing to putting mental health on an equal footing with physical health.

William and Kate have long been involved in mental health initiatives through their Heads Together campaign.

The summit is being held at London’s County Hall on the South Bank.

Kate only returned to royal duties last week after taking maternity leave for the birth of the couple’s third child Prince Louis.

Ahead of the summit, the Department of Health and Social Care began a social media campaign using the hash tag #TheWorldNeeds to ask people what we need to change in the way we treat and perceive mental health.
