A ST Saviour road has been reopened following the repair of a gas leak, Island Energy has said.
St Saviour’s Hill was closed on Wednesday evening after a member of the public reported the smell of gas.
An Island Energy spokesperson said: “Following the completion of the work to repair the gas main at St Saviour’s Hill this morning, the road has now fully opened to traffic and pavements which had closed temporarily are now also available for pedestrians to use once again. Engineers completed the required testing earlier and the road was successfully filled and re-surfaced.
“Island Energy has thanked residents, motorists and pedestrians for their patience and understanding while this essential work was carried out. The company is reminding everyone that if they smell gas or suspect a gas escape at any time to always call the 24-hour emergency line on 01534 755555.”
