A MAN who stole £4,300 worth of tools from a St Helier property has been sent to the Royal Court for sentencing.

Joao Cristiano De Sousa Silva (39) previously pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and three drug offences – possessing five grams of cannabis resin, 42 diazepam tablets and half a gram of tramadol.

At an earlier hearing, he was warned that imprisonment was “extremely likely”, but the Magistrate’s Court initially retained jurisdiction for sentencing.

However, Relief Magistrate David Le Cornu decided on Monday that the case should be dealt with by the Royal Court.

De Sousa Silva, who was represented by Advocate Roy Slater, was remanded in custody until 15 January.
