FINANCE businesses and their advisers are being asked to help shape a dedicated tax support service aimed at cutting delays and making the Island easier to do business in.

The government has launched a survey and plans workshops to identify how Revenue Jersey can provide faster responses, clearer guidance and better access to specialist expertise.

The proposed service forms part of the government’s Time to Win programme to improve Jersey’s international competitiveness, remove barriers to business and support economic growth.

Treasury Minister Alan Maclean said efficient tax administration was important to attracting and retaining business.

“Businesses need timely decisions, clear guidance, certainty and straightforward access to specialist expertise,” he said.

“Our intention is to develop a dedicated FRPS support service within Revenue Jersey that delivers faster, more efficient and more business-friendly engagement with this strategically important sector.”

FRPS stands for financial and related professional services. Alongside finance businesses, it includes law and accountancy firms, tax advisers and other professionals supporting the industry.

The sector supports approximately two in every five Island jobs, generates more than half of Jersey’s economic output and contributes around £6 in every £10 of tax revenue, according to the government.

The precise arrangements for the service will be developed through discussions with businesses and advisers, drawing on existing expertise and resources wherever possible.

Senator Maclean said: “This is about improving the service the government provides, not creating unnecessary jobs and bureaucracy.”

The engagement exercise will examine response times, simpler processes, consistent guidance and communication between Revenue Jersey and the businesses it serves. It will not consider changes to tax policy or legislation.

People working in the sector have until Friday 6 November to complete the online survey, which should take less than ten minutes.

Independently facilitated workshops will take place during the week beginning 16 November, with separate sessions for professionals who regularly deal with Revenue Jersey and senior industry leaders.

The findings will inform the service’s design and implementation and will be shared in January 2027.
