DELAYS, unexpected costs and failed house sales are under scrutiny in a consultation on buying and selling homes in Jersey.
Islanders and property professionals are being asked to share their experiences to help the government assess whether the process needs to change.
The consultation – launched by Housing Minister Malcolm Ferey – examines what works well, what causes difficulties and how communication between buyers, sellers, estate agents, lawyers and lenders could improve.
Deputy Ferey said: “While many people complete the process without difficulty, others face delays, unexpected costs or uncertainty, and some sales fall through.”
He added: “Whether your experience was positive or negative, your views will help us better understand how the current process works in practice and identify opportunities for improvement.”
Responses can be submitted through the questionnaire on gov.je, emailed to propertyprocess@gov.je or posted to the Residential Property Transaction Process Consultation, Cabinet Office, Government of Jersey, Union Street, St Helier, JE2 3DN.
The consultation runs until Friday 18 December.
