A CAMPAIGN has been launched to recruit volunteer drivers to help Islanders needing support with essential and everyday services.

Jersey Community Transport is encouraging individuals, groups of friends and colleagues to consider sparing an extra hour every now and then, or to commit to regular duties.

The campaign aims to expand JCT’s services and is seeking people who enjoy driving, meeting others and giving back to the Island community.

The recruitment drive was launched at Charing Cross last week, where Islanders were able to learn more about the volunteer role and collect information packs, role profiles and application forms.

A spokesperson for the campaign said: “For many of us, being able to get into a vehicle and travel where we need to go is something we take for granted. For others, access to suitable transport can make an enormous difference to their independence and ability to stay connected with their community.

“We are looking for people who would like to put their driving experience and some of their spare time towards something genuinely worthwhile. Volunteering as a driver is a practical way of supporting fellow Islanders and strengthening our community.”

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer driver is encouraged to get in contact through the Jersey Community Transport website at www.jct.org.je, or email jane@jct.org.je
