THE jury in the trial of three Island Energy workers alleged to have unlawfully killed ten victims of the Haut du Mont explosion has retired to consider its verdicts.
Neil Armstrong (58), John Wright (60) and Lee Ward (59) each deny ten counts of gross negligence manslaughter for their role in the explosion on 10 December 2022.
Jurors will also consider whether to convict Jersey Gas, which trades as Island Energy, of two alleged breaches of the Health and Safety at Work (Jersey) Law 1989.
The company is said to have breached its duty to ensure the health and safety of both its employees and members of the public.
Commissioner Andrew Oldland, presiding, told the 12 jurors that they are “under no pressure of time” to reach verdicts.
