A six-metre art installation depicting the moon will illuminate a town church next month.

From Sunday 15 to Sunday 29 November, ArtHouse Jersey is bringing Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon to the St Helier Methodist Centre, created using highly detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface.

The artwork has appeared more than 350 times in over 40 countries at prestigious venues and events, including London’s Natural History Museum and Glastonbury Festival.

It follows the success of the ‘Floating Earth’ installation which was erected on Queen’s Valley reservoir in September 2023 – bringing around 31,000 visitors.

The installation comes as part of the Butterfield Public Art Series, allowing Islanders a chance to experience the moon up close.

Bubbletecture, an exhibition open in August and September 2025 featuring giant inflated bubbles, was also a part of the Butterfield Public Art series.

Chief executive of ArtHouse Jersey, Tom Dingle, said: “Following the incredible
response to Floating Earth, we’re looking forward to bringing another of Luke Jerram’s
extraordinary artworks to Jersey.

“These large-scale public art projects have a wonderful ability to capture people’s imaginations and bring the whole Island together”.

Michelle Le Blond, Butterfield Jersey branch manager, added, “Through the Butterfield Public Art Series, we’re proud to continue our partnership with ArtHouse Jersey, supporting ambitious public art projects that are accessible to the whole community. Moon is an opportunity to bring people together through a shared cultural experience, and we’re pleased to help make an internationally recognised artwork available for everyone in Jersey to enjoy. We hope Islanders of all ages will take the opportunity to visit and experience something truly special.”

Museum of the Moon will be open from 9am to 6.30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays, 9am to 4pm on Wednesdays, and 9am to 9pm from Thursdays to Sundays.

On 15 November, it will open from 3pm. Admission is free, with no booking required.
