JERSEY’S ‘biggest’ book sale is returning this weekend having raised more than £615,402 since its launch 32 years ago.
The annual event is the biggest fundraiser for the Guide Dogs Jersey team.
Around 20,000 books will be on offer this weekend, including novels, reference books, rare items and a children’s section, where books will cost just 25p to encourage young readers.
More than 750 boxes have been sorted and priced, and books will be categorised alphabetically on the day so that readers can go directly to their favourite subjects.
Rare and valuable items will be placed in a seperate area for enthusiasts and collectors.
The doors will open at 9am until 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday at Peacock Farm on La Route de Maufant in Trinity, near Jersey Zoo.

Chairman of Guide Dogs Jersey Branch Ken Syvret MBE said: “The Biggest Book Sale has
become a truly enjoyable community event.
“Each year over 50 volunteers lend a hand during the busy weekend, helping with the
loading and delivery of books to the sale venue, taking payments at the four pay desks,
keeping the boxes tidy, and at the end of it all returning unsold books to the book store in St Ouen.
“Such a successful enterprise does not happen without the generosity of donors of books
and the many who regularly support the sales finding bargains on every occasion”.
Working Guide Dogs and puppies in training also attend the Biggest Book Sale to help show the work of the charity and the difference it makes to the lives of guide dog owners.
