A NEW Sixth Form Centre was opened this week at Victoria College, following government investment in the college’s post-16 provision.
The new centre was officially reopened by Education Minister Catherine Curtis and featured an event attended by the chair of the Board of Governors, members of the senior leadership team and school prefects.
With a full upgrade to almost every facet of the centre, Victoria College hopes that the new facilities will support its students academically will providing all current and future pupils academic with modern spaces for independent study and personal development.
The school’s head boy Oliver Bell said: “The new Sixth Form Centre is an exciting redevelopment for students, providing us with a professional environment that reflects the ambitions we share within the Sixth Form.
“The designated study and social spaces will help create a positive and productive atmosphere, allowing students to collaborate, focus and make the most of the opportunities available to them.
“The new Centre will have a positive impact on both our academic experience and the wider opportunities available to students.”
Head teacher Dr Gareth Hughes added: “This Sixth Form Centre represents a significant investment in the future of our students and our post-16 provision. We wanted to create a space that reflects the aspirations we have for every young person who studies here.
“The centre has been designed to support a culture of academic excellence, high standards and mutual respect, whilst also providing exceptional facilities for collaboration, independent study and community building.”
