A FOUR-PERSON team successfully overcame rough conditions and swarms of jellyfish in completing a relay swim from Jersey to France.
Jacques Amy, Rhianna Reynolds, Ellie Garrattley and Ellie Hegarty set off from La Coupe on the east coast of the Island at 7.30am last Sunday, reaching Bretteville-sur-Ay in Normandy after nine hours and 21 minutes.
The group were accompanied by the Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club boat Sea Swimmer, with pilot Guy Pipon at the helm and club president Jenny Fitzgerald acting as observer.
Miss Reynolds and Mr Amy, who are engaged to be married, opted to raise funds for Dementia Jersey and have currently amassed more than £600.
The start of the challenge saw rough conditions that persisted beyond the halfway point, Miss Reynolds said, while flatter seas during the latter part of the swim coincided with “swarms” of jellyfish.
