A SEX attacker who targeted lone women in the early hours of the morning has been jailed for nine years and recommended for deportation.
Abdelkarim Arfaoui (27) was convicted in July and sentenced yesterday for one count of attempted rape, five counts of sexual touching without consent, two counts of common assault, one count of threatening and abusive behaviour and one count of grave and criminal assault.
As well as being jailed for nine years, a deportation recommendation for Arfaoui, who was born in Tunisia, will be made. Arfaoui will also be on the sex offenders register for a minimum period of 12 years before he can apply to be removed.
Investigating officer DC Jack Maguire said: “Today’s sentence will hopefully provide some closure to the five women involved in this case. It must be stressed that it is due to their courage in reporting these offences, providing evidence and giving testimony in court, that a dangerous sexual offender has been brought to justice. Jersey is a safer place because of their actions.”
