CHANGES to temporary traffic arrangements as part of a major sewer network upgrade could be brought into force after a “well-attended” meeting about the project, the St Helier Constable has said.
Around 90 people attended the recent meeting, which was organised by Constable Inna Gardiner so that the Infrastructure Department could provide parishioners with the latest information about the works taking place along La Grande Route de St Jean and answer questions.
The project, which is boosting sewer capacity from the Haute Croix area to the Bellozanne Sewage Treatment Works, began in November.
Over 1,000 metres of new sewer pipe has been installed so far, with the work currently scheduled to be completed by June 2027.
Mrs Gardiner described the meeting, which was held at Haute Vallée School, as “very well attended”.
“The key is the communication,” she said, noting that it had been agreed that there would now be weekly updates on the government website.
“We’ll have more drop-in sessions,” Mrs Gardiner continued. “There are particular areas that were raised that officers took away, and they will work with the residents to review possible traffic arrangements.”
She added that there would also be engagement with businesses around some of the affected areas.
“In general terms, we have a timeline and we would like to check if [there are] any options to speed it up with a bit more investment or reallocation.”
