A VAN driver has been fined £3,000 and banned from driving after a collision left a motorcyclist with a fractured wrist.

David De Sousa Fernandes, 48, admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving following the crash near Rouge Bouillon during the early hours of 13 October 2025.

The Magistrate’s Court heard that De Sousa Fernandes was driving towards the hospital when his van collided with a motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist had been overtaking stationary traffic before the collision and suffered a fractured left wrist.

De Sousa Fernandes stopped, got out of his van and contacted the police.

Assistant Magistrate Adam Clarke fined him £3,000 and disqualified him from driving for eight months.
