HOT on the heels of Jersey’s Commonwealth Games success, Islanders are being given the chance to discover some of the sporting triumphs – and stories – that came before it.
Rarely seen items from Jersey’s sporting past are set to be brought out of the vaults this Saturday as Jersey Archive takes visitors on a whistlestop journey “from pitch-side to poolside”.
The free event, running from 9am to 1pm, will include a 10am talk from archivist Harry Le Feuvre exploring the Island’s sporting history alongside a special display of material from Jersey Heritage’s collections.
And at 11.30am, visitors will be given an insight into the JEP Photo Archive and the images which have captured some of Jersey’s most memorable sporting moments over the years.
The event on Saturday 15 August forms part of Jersey Archive’s programme of monthly talks, tours and displays, held on the third Saturday of each month.
