THE People’s Park will be transformed into an 80s party next month as Weekender teams up with UK retro festival Let’s Rock.
Let’s Rock has been putting on family-friendly retro events celebrating 1980s music and culture across the UK since 2009.
It comes following the announcement that legendary Blur bassist Alex James will be bringing his Britpop Classical show to the island on Friday 11 September, with a production that combines orchestral arrangements with guest vocalists performing songs from some of the best-known British bands of the 1990s.
The following day, Weekender presents Let’s Rock will feature performances from 80s acts including Bros frontman Matt Goss, alongside the voice of Spandau Ballet Tony Hadley, synth-pop hitmaker Nik Kershaw, and acclaimed Scottish pop duo Hue and Cry.
Festival organizers have confirmed that additional acts and local supporting artists will be added to the Saturday lineup in the coming weeks.

From Matt Goss and Tony Hadley to Nik Kershaw and Hue and Cry, Saturday is going to be an incredible, hit-packed celebration from start to finish. Since we have announced, the appetite for both days has been massive, and we can’t wait to deliver two totally unique show experiences over one weekend.”
