Marine biologist Nick Jouault has recorded only the Island’s second-ever sighting of Gargamella rosi at Les Écréhous – a species first found locally last year.
Known as a “climate boomer”, it is becoming more common in UK waters as seas warm.
The discovery of two together suggests the rare nudibranch may now be breeding in Jersey, offering a glimmer of hope for a rockpool habitat that is still recovering after being damaged by stones being left overturned by low-water fishers.
