A FILM following two men driven to violence over a single piece of bread is among the projects that have secured financial assistance in the latest round of a quarterly funding initiative.
ArtHouse Jersey has announced the successful artists who applied for the charity’s second round of development grants for 2026.
Local writer-director Andy Lowe has been awarded funding towards ‘Bread’, a short survival drama set in the late 19th to early 20th century.
The film explores themes of desperation, morality, and the fragility of civility under extreme conditions through the story of two men driven to violence over a single piece of bread in an isolated landscape.
Andy said: “This funding will provide invaluable support for my development as a writer-director and help me continue creating ambitious independent films in Jersey.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity and excited to continue building my career while contributing to Jersey’s growing creative community.”
Other projects that secured funding in the latest round of grants include a destination thriller novel, screen acting training, a comedy showcase at the Edinburgh Fringe, and an analogue photography project documenting Jersey’s residential landscapes.
