A PHARMACY in St Helier could offer round-the-clock prescription collections under plans to install an automated dispensing machine outside its premises.
A planning application has been submitted for a new 24/7 pharmaceutical dispensary unit at Queen’s Road Pharmacy, which is located on the ground floor of a healthcare building that also houses a GP practice.
The proposed machine would allow customers to securely collect prescriptions outside the pharmacy’s normal opening hours. The existing pharmacy would continue to operate as usual, with opening hours remaining unchanged.
Superintendent pharmacist Nima Rad, who submitted the application on behalf of the business, wrote: “At present, customers can only collect prescriptions during opening hours, which can be inconvenient, if for example they work nightshifts.
“The new unit offers a simple and flexible alternative, reducing the need to visit the pharmacy at set times.”
As part of the proposal, a small section of the paving would be altered to create a ramp for wheelchair users.
New metal bollards would also be installed to improve safety, alongside additional lighting to improve visibility.
