A NEW UK minister will oversee the Channel Islands’ relationship with the UK, following Andy Burnham’s appointment as prime minister.

Alex Norris has been appointed Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice in Mr Burnham’s first Cabinet – a role that will see him assume responsibility for the UK’s constitutional relationship with the Crown Dependencies.

The Labour MP for Nottingham North and Kimberley, who replaces David Lammy, was previously Minister for Border Security and Asylum at the Home Office.

He has also been Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
