YOUNG people in Jersey have started sharing their ideas to help shape the new Ann Street Youth Centre in St Helier, which is due to open in 2028.
The five-storey youth centre on the former Ann Street Brewery site is due to include a rooftop kick pitch, large climbing wall, dance studio, boxing gym and a health and beauty room.
A new Youth Ambassador Group held its first meeting last week. Three young ambassadors took part, and many more have already said they would like to join future sessions.
Together, they began talking about what they would like to see inside the new youth centre.
Their ideas included a quiet café, cosy bean bags, a TV games room, creative spaces and places to relax with friends.
The ambassadors will keep talking to youth workers and the people designing the building to help make sure the centre meets the needs of young people.
Schools in St Helier and youth groups from across Jersey have also been creating colourful graffiti-style pieces for the project.
The artwork will be displayed on the fencing around the construction site to brighten the area and celebrate the creativity, talents and ideas of Jersey’s young people.
The artwork was created in partnership with Dandara, and groups including Grainville School, d’Auvergne Primary School, Mont à l’Abbé School, Springfield Primary School, Dungeons & Dragons Youth Project, Youth Arts Jersey, My Time for Carers, YES, Targeted Youth Support and LGBTQ+ Youth Jersey all took part.
The Youth Ambassador Group is still looking for more members.

When it opens in 2028, it is hoped that the Ann Street Youth Centre will offer modern, welcoming spaces where young people can meet friends, try activities, learn new skills and get support when they need it.
